What We Did in ... 2009!
We had lots of fun in our
spring term. We decided it would be a nice idea to make a Memory Box to put pictures, photos and crafts into so that at the end of the Unit’s first year we could open it and remind ourselves of everything we had done. So lots of red paint and stickers later and we had ourselves a 1st Brackla Rainbows Memory Box:

We celebrated Chinese New Year by making egg box dragons, playing Chinese games and acting out the Chinese New Year story:
More new Rainbows made their Promises – WELL DONE Jessica, Amy & Hannah!
To celebrate the patron Saint of Wales: St David, we had a teddy bears’ picnic – the teddy bears joined in by getting dressed up in Welsh costume!
On top of that, we learnt new songs, played lots of games and made Mother’s Day cards.
Summer term saw us working towards our first Roundabout badge: Roundabout Rainbows. In our first week back, the Rainbows voted for the activities they wanted to do for each part of the badge. For Roundabout Rainbows Learn the Rainbows worked in small groups – each one making a different food posters: Foods to eat at a family Sunday roast lunch; Foods that are healthy or unhealthy; Food you can grow in your garden; Food to eat at a children’s birthday party; Food you could eat at a grown-up party or buffet. We had lots of food pictures Barny had cut-out so used lots of glue! The posters were brilliant!
For our Roundabout Rainbows Look activity we drew around Rainbow Caitlin and then all helped to design some new Rainbow clothes – with lots of sparkle!
We celebrated another Promise Night for our Roundabout Rainbow Love activity and played Islands – a good teamwork game.
Our Roundabout Rainbows Laugh activity was messy and fun! We learnt all about artists who have to use their mouths or feet to paint and looked at their amazing paintings! Then (with plenty of plastic covering the floor) we tried it for ourselves - it was really hard and made us appreciated the paintings we had seen even more. We had great fun trying to paint Rainbows!
Apart from that we also learnt about healthy eating by tasting lots of different fruits, played football games, made a special Father’s Day craft and had a Wimbledon-themed night. To help the girls learn more about Brownies some of our Rainbows stayed for Brownies and got to decorate a t-shirt and play games. Thanks Brown Owl!
We also had to our first Pot of Gold celebration to say goodbye to Chloe, Tamzen and Jessica who moved on to Brownies – we had a McDonalds up at the Pines and the girls loved it (and Harvey got to be an honorary Rainbow for the hour!). We sang our welcome and goodbye songs too - so got lots of smiles from everyone else who was there!
BUT that's not all we did in 2009. The start of the autumn term saw the start of a year's worth of fun as we started to celebrate the
